Clubs and Organizations
Student Council elected students from each 5K through 5th grade class provide the student leadership at Houston. They are in charge of the school store and are involved in community projects. The Student Council is also responsible for raising and lowering our flag each day.
Girls on the Run
Girls in grades three through five can participate in this after school, national program, which promotes fitness and a healthy lifestyle including self-confidence.
Third through fifth grade students who want to improve their health and level of fitness while having fun sign up for this activity after school. Practice is held once a week and the team attends “Fun Runs” once a month. This club is a great way for students to get into shape, meet new friends and develop confidence.
Spartanburg High School students serve as Helping Hands tutors/mentors 7:00-7:30 each Wednesday morning. These juniors and seniors review concepts, check homework, practice skills, and serve as positive role models to our students. Safety Patrol: fifth and sixth grade students welcome car riders each morning. They open car doors as needed and finish their morning’s work by raising the US and SC flags. These same students lower the flags in the afternoon.
