Welcome to Houston Elementary School. I am excited about the opportunities our school provides to its students.
We are implementing Common Cores State Standards in Grades K-5 , and our instruction will be rigorous and engaging. We have developed school-wide instructional goals which focuses on professional learning communities, literacy, and Common Core State Standards.
Our fine arts and club involvement continue to grow in participation and excellence in performance and expectations. We are excited about the experiences that this school year will bring. Our students, teachers, and parents take great pride in our school and its success. It is also my hope that you will use our website on a regular basis. It contains an abundance of information about programs and calendars as well as other items of great significance relevant to our school.

Welcome to the new school year and our focus on learning and growing together! We want you to know that we have an open door policy and that you may contact or come see me at any time to discuss concerns you may have. I work with instruction, discipline, and administrative duties all under the direction of our principal, Tommy Stokes, and according to our student handbook guidelines and state laws and standards. Our mission at Houston Elementary School is to provide a quality, student-centered education. We are excited about the upcoming school year and all of the wonderful educational opportunities that lie ahead for our students.
Our school-wide theme for 2013-2014, “Bee-Attitudes”, will serve as a unifying tie among our school family as we work to provide the perfect individualized path to help every child achieve success. Do your best each day, be here and on time, and have a wonderful Husky day!
Houston Becoming a Common Sense Media School
A Common Sense School is dedicated to teaching digital literacy and citizenship to young people using Common Sense Media materials designed to empower students to think critically, behave safely, and participate responsibly in our digital world. Parents, we encourage you to help your children learn to be safe and respectful online. Students, think and remember to be safe online, and students in grades 3-5, we challenge you to earn your earn your digital passport.
