The First Tee of Spartanburg & Cherokee Counties sponsored The First Tee Life Skills & Golf Skills Team Challenge on September 26 at The Creek Golf Club. One hundred thirty-two fourth graders from thirty-three schools were selected to participate. Students competed in a skills challenge consisting of chipping, putting, and long drive. In addition, they were tested on their knowledge of the nine healthy habits (Honesty, Integrity, Courtesy, Confidence, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, Judgment, and Perseverance) and nine core values (Energy, Play, Safety, Vision, Mind, Family, Friends, School, and Community). We are proud to announce that four students from Houston were selected to participate in this event. They are: Jayden Brown, Olivia Williams, Juan Zepeda, and Ty’tayana Ballenger.
We are also proud to announce that Jayden Brown’s essay on “Safety”, one of the nine Healthy Habits, was selected as a winning essay. Congratulations, Jayden!Read More
