Principal's Message

Welcome to Houston Elementary, home of the Huskies! Houston is home to approximately three hundred seventy students in grades kindergarten through fifth. Our mission is to inspire and empower our students to reach their fullest potential. Through the continued support of parents and community, our team of dedicated teachers and staff strive to accomplish this mission each day. At Houston we believe in engaging students and fostering their individual talents, strengths and interests.
We are proud to offer innovative technology, foreign language studies, an outstanding fine arts program and before and after school enrichment opportunities.
Through a problem based learning approach, Houston is proud to provide a rigorous instructional program. Problem based learning, or PBL, allows students to develop solutions to real-world scenarios, or problems. During the learning experiences students are encouraged to think critically, problem solve, research information, and collaborate with others. PBL is preparing our students and equipping them with the skills they will need on their journey to success.
In closing, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our volunteers for their faithful service to our students and school. The IVTAY volunteer program was implemented this past year. IVTAY is an acronym for I Volunteer Ten (hours) A Year. Volunteers who reach the ten hour mark receive a beautiful magnet to proudly display on their vehicle as a visual symbol of pride and accomplishment for making a difference in the lives of our students. Please feel free to contact our front office to learn more about how you can become a member of IVTAY.
Thank you for taking time to visit our website and to learn more about our school. Our goal is to provide you with current, up to date information and school news. Please visit us often and let us know how we may better serve you.
Sincerely,
Mark Hendry
